Vietnam, Slovakia Agree to Elevate Bilateral Ties

(MENAFN) Vietnam and Slovakia elevated their bilateral relationship to a full strategic partnership Monday, as Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico wrapped up an official visit to the Southeast Asian nation, media reported.

At a joint press briefing following high-level talks, Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung announced that both leaders had adopted a formal joint statement formalizing the upgrade, and had directed their respective foreign ministries to swiftly draft an action plan to bring the new framework into effect.

Hung outlined that the deepened partnership would span a broad range of sectors, including trade, investment, defense and security, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and people-to-people exchange.

Fico, for his part, underscored the strength of existing political ties between the two nations, describing them as robust and mutually beneficial. He highlighted that Vietnam holds the distinction of being Slovakia's largest trading partner across Southeast Asia, and used the occasion to call for an intensified push on economic and trade collaboration going forward.
